Another Suspect In Southkey Murder Case Arrested In Singapore

Johor bahru: Police have arrested another suspect to assist in the investigation into the murder of a man in Southkey here on March 14, bringing the total number of arrests so far to six individuals. Johor deputy police chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat announced the arrest of the sixth suspect, a 30-year-old foreign man, in Singapore this morning. This development was made possible through close cooperation between the Royal Malaysia Police and the authorities in Singapore.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a remand application for the newly arrested suspect will be made tomorrow. During a press conference at the Johor police contingent headquarters, held in conjunction with the 219th Police Day, Hoo Chuan Huat revealed that five individuals had been arrested earlier. These suspects include four men and one woman. The first suspect's remand period has been extended until March 31, and applications for extensions will be pursued for the other four suspects whose remand is set to expire tomorrow.

The motive behind the murder is currently under investigation, with police promising further updates once the probe is completed. Earlier reports had indicated that five suspects, aged between 24 and 33, were believed to have fled to Singapore after being pursued by police in connection with the case. The first suspect was detained on March 18 at 12:15 am while attempting to pass through immigration checks into Singapore. Subsequent arrests of four more suspects were made with the assistance of Singapore police at 6 pm the following day.

The incident in question took place on March 14 at 5 am, when a 32-year-old foreign man was attacked with sharp weapons, including being stabbed in the neck by several individuals. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at Sultan Ismail Hospital. The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
