Another Member of ‘Captain Praba’ Gang Extradited from Thailand, 15 More Suspects Sought

Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) successfully brought home another member of the 'Captain Praba' gang, an organised crime group, who was extradited from Thailand. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that the suspect, a man in his 30s, arrived in Malaysia around 10.30 pm last night, thanks to effective cooperation between PDRM and Thai police. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court today to obtain a remand order for further investigation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Inspector-General Mohd Khalid Ismail mentioned that the police are actively pursuing the remaining 15 members of the gang believed to be at large. He highlighted that the recent arrest increases the total number of apprehended 'Captain Praba' gang members to 17. Earlier, PDRM successfully extradited three other suspects from Mumbai, India.

Mohd Khalid pointed out the challenges in tracking down suspects who flee abroad, as they tend to act quickly to evade capture. Nonetheless, he emphasized that international cooperation and intelligence exchanges facilitate timely actions by the respective authorities whenever a suspect is located.

The 'Captain Praba' gang is linked to numerous violent crimes and armed robberies, making it one of the most wanted criminal groups by authorities. The group gained notoriety after participating in several high-profile robberies, often employing firearms and aggressive tactics against victims and security forces.

In response to the rising criminal activity associated with this group, PDRM launched a special operation aimed at dismantling the gang's network, which includes investigating an incident where members allegedly attempted to kill a police officer during a raid.
