Melaka:Amanah is optimistic about securing victories in all seven seats it is contesting in the 16th Melaka State Election, according to its president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Sabu attributed this confidence to the support from young voters for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the coalition's strategy of fielding candidates from the younger generation. He expressed this sentiment after a ceramah at Jalan Telok Gong, Pengkalan Balak, where he stated, "Amanah is contesting seven (seats), and we are confident of winning all seven, Insya-Allah."
Present at the event was PH candidate for the Kuala Linggi seat, Muhammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah, who is the youngest candidate in this state election. In addition to Kuala Linggi, Amanah is contesting in Bukit Katil, Durian Tunggal, Telok Mas, Merlimau, Sungai Rambai, and Taboh Naning.
Mohamad Sabu highlighted PH's decision to field eight young candidates, selected based on their qualifications and capabilities, as a move to provide leadership opportunities to the younger generation. He emphasized that the presence of young candidates does not diminish the role of veteran leaders, advocating for a combination of talents from different age groups.
In the Bukit Katil seat, Adly Zahari of Amanah, who is also the Melaka PH chairman and the incumbent, is facing a four-cornered contest. The other contenders are Ridzuan Sarif of Perikatan Nasional, Dr Aliza Che Amran of Parti Bersama Malaysia, and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin.
The Election Commission has scheduled polling day for November 14, with early voting set for November 10.
