Alliance With PH Entails Upholding Good Governance, Championing People’s Welfare – Anwar

Kota kinabalu: Any party seeking to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Sabah state election or in forming a government must uphold good governance, eradicate corruption, and remain committed to championing the people’s welfare, said PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who is also the Prime Minister, expressed openness and sincerity about working together if the other party has a clear intention and genuine commitment to achieving the goal of developing Sabah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that any collaboration must adhere to specific conditions, such as using power to defend the people’s welfare. This statement was made during his speech at PKR’s Candidate Announcement Ceremony for the 17th Sabah State Election, where PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar and other prominent party leaders were present. At this event, Anwar introduced 10 candidates who will represent the party and announced that PH will contest 23 state assembly seats.

Anwar urged the people of Sabah to carefully evaluate political leaders and their promises, warning against falling for false promises or being used as pawns in political games. He highlighted that while excitement can be stirred and applauses gained, the outcome often leaves leaders wealthier while the cheering rakyat remain poor. He cautioned against racial politics, which he said has greatly harmed the nation and fuelled unnecessary hatred.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of political stability and cooperation between federal and state governments to safeguard the welfare of the people, particularly in Sabah. He encouraged the people of Sabah to seize the opportunity in the upcoming state election to work together as a team to develop the state, urging them to use their lives for the good of the people and to restore the nation’s image as a respected country.

Anwar also announced that all coalition parties under PH contesting in the 17th state election will use the PH logo as their common symbol of struggle. He reaffirmed PH’s commitment to ensuring strong representation to maintain good relations between the Sabah and federal governments and to uplift the dignity of the people of Sabah. The 17th Sabah state election is scheduled to be held on Nov 29.
