Sungai batu pahat: All parties, including government agencies, growers, and industry players, are urged to step up efforts in the cultivation, research, processing, and marketing of Harumanis mangoes to ensure the Perlis Harumanis brand continues to be strengthened while preserving its authenticity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, expressed confidence that Perlis would remain a leading hub for the fruit's production. He emphasized that this would contribute to the state's economic growth and the well-being of its people through sustained commitment and strategic cooperation among all parties.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin highlighted the rapid expansion of the Harumanis industry, which now involves more than 2,700 growers and cultivation areas reaching 1,800 hectares. He made these remarks while launching the Perlis Agrofest 2026 in Sungai Batu Pahat. The event was also attended by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin encouraged the public to utilize available land in residential areas by planting Harumanis, noting the potential for positive returns in about 10 years. He stressed the importance of technology and innovation in agriculture to enhance productivity and efficiency, urging all parties to remain open to change and continually upgrade their skills.

He also expressed hope that both state and federal governments would continue to provide relevant initiatives to industry players, particularly concerning fuel incentives, due to price increases from the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

The three-day Perlis Agrofest, which began yesterday, features activities related to agriculture, livestock, agro-technology, and entrepreneurship, aiming to raise public awareness on food security and economic sustainability.
