Algeria and Uruguay Join Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia

Kuala lumpur: The Signing Ceremony of the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) took place today, marking a significant development in international diplomatic relations. The event, held between 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, was officiated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan and attended by ASEAN Foreign Ministers, the Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste as an observer, and Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ceremony celebrated the formal accession of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the TAC. Algeria was represented by its Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, while Uruguay was represented by its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Lubetkin. This accession signifies a strengthening of diplomatic ties and cooperation between Southeast Asia and these two nations.
