AKM Director-General Advocates for Legal Action Against Jalur Gemilang Disrespect

Kuala lumpur: Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM) director-general Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin has called for firm legal action against those who disrespect the Jalur Gemilang, insisting the national flag's dignity must be protected at all costs. He urged authorities to scrutinise all non-compliance cases, from improper installation to substandard flag displays, and act under existing laws.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Roslan emphasized that tough enforcement is the only way to prevent recurring flag-related offences. "We cannot let this slide. If we can fine people for littering, we can certainly take action when someone mishandles our national symbol," he told reporters after the Aku Kasih Malaysia: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati programme today. "Examine each case thoroughly. Take legal action where needed. Do not let it happen again," he added.

Roslan asserted that the Jalur Gemilang is the ultimate symbol of national pride and must be taken seriously by everyone, regardless of rank or position. "Every Malaysian, whether a public servant or not, must recognise that our national emblem should be properly respected. That is our dignity," he said.

He further added that enforcement must complement AKM's ongoing efforts to raise public awareness to instill patriotism. AKM, he noted, will continue pushing its civic education agenda to deepen public understanding of national symbols and statehood. "We strongly urge all parties to give this matter the serious attention it deserves," he concluded.
