AirBorneo Open To Talks On Civil Servants’ Air Travel Warrants

Sarawak: AirBorneo is open to negotiations with the federal government on the provision of air travel ticket warrants for civil servants, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. He stated that this initiative is already part of the planning for the Sarawak government-owned airline.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg mentioned that the negotiations would not be an issue and that discussions could commence after July, coinciding with the start of AirBorneo's jet aircraft operations. These new jets aim to connect Kuching with various international destinations, including Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN countries.

The Sarawak-based airline currently serves 21 destinations, focusing on providing connectivity to rural areas in Sarawak and Sabah. AirBorneo began its commercial operations with its inaugural flight on January 2, 2026, after taking over from MASwings.
