Shah Alam:Terengganu Cycling Team's Aiman Rosli started the Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 with a strong performance, securing the White Jersey as the Best Asian Rider after Stage 1 of the race. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 27-year-old cyclist led the Asian category after earning points at two sprint zones during the 193-kilometre race from Shah Alam to Kampar. Although he initially aimed for a breakaway, he could not maintain his lead at the third sprint zone in Teluk Intan. Rosli decided to conserve energy for the upcoming stages. Rosli completed the opening stage in a bunch finish, placing 70th out of 119 competitors with a time of 4 hours, 6 minutes, and 53 seconds. His performance in the sprint zones, finishing third at Ijok and first in Kuala Selangor, secured his top position in the Asian category with a time of 4:06:49. Following Rosli, Aisan Racing Team's Hijiri Oda is second in the Best Asian Rider standings with a time of 4:06:53, and Malaysia Pro Cycling's Mohamad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Jalil is third, sharing the same time. Stage 2 will present a 145.6km route from Taiping to Gunung Jerai, including three sprint zones and two climb zones, with Gunung Jerai being a notable addition to the race since 1996. Rosli, a seven-time national champion, emphasized the importance of energy management for the challenging climbs ahead. Rosli also expressed support for his teammate Kee Zhe Yie, who is currently second in the King of the Mountains chart. He encouraged Zhe Yie to maintain his momentum and contribute to the team's performance.
