Kuala lumpur: Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan has emphasized the need for the RM129.4 million Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) testing laboratory and complex project to be completed on schedule, or even earlier. The project, which spans 178 weeks beginning from January 7, is set for completion by June 5, 2029, and aligns with the Zero Sick Projects and Ahead of Time (AOT) principles advocated by the Works Ministry and the Public Works Department.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad highlighted the ministry's dual focus on adherence to schedules and standards, alongside effective project management to ensure national prosperity and public benefit. He remarked that if project and financial management are executed properly, projects would not face delays or be categorized as sick. His comments came following the handover of the Letter of Acceptance to MTD Construction Sdn Bhd.
Ahmad further stressed the importance of contractors, who have received the Letter of Acceptance, to fully commit to quality and compliance with specifications, cost, timeline, and safety requirements. He noted that previous project delays often resulted from inadequate project and financial management, urging contractors to prioritize these areas.
The MIROS Complex project includes the construction of a testing laboratory building, an administrative building, support blocks, and related facilities designed to bolster road safety research and testing capabilities. Once completed, the facility is expected to enhance MIROS' status as a national and regional reference center for road safety research, improving the institute's operational efficiency in conducting research and training programs with greater safety, impact, and systematic rigor.
