Melaka: PKR Melaka state leadership council (MPN) deputy chairman Adam Adli Abd Halim will be acting for Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin as chairman effective yesterday. The announcement was made by PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr. Fuziah Salleh in a statement today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shamsul Iskandar's position as Hang Tuah Jaya branch chief remains unchanged. On December 5, Shamsul Iskandar, the former senior political secretary to the Prime Minister, faced a corruption charge at the Shah Alam Sessions Court in Selangor. The charge involved the approval of a mineral exploration licence in Sabah, amounting to RM64,924.

A day earlier, Shamsul Iskandar, aged 50, was also charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on four additional corruption charges. These charges totaled RM176,829.03 and similarly involved the approval of a mineral exploration licence in Sabah. In November, he announced his resignation from his role as senior political secretary to the Prime Minister, citing an attempt to attack him through matters that could tarnish the image of the MADANI Government.
