Kangar: An activist was released on police bail at 3 pm today, following the expiry of his two-day remand order in connection with a land encroachment case in Bukit Lagi. Kangar police chief ACP Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop confirmed the release and stated that the investigation concerning the activist has reached a significant milestone.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, two investigation papers, including one concerning seditious content posted on social media related to the demolition of a temple in the area, have been completed. "Both investigation papers have been forwarded to the State Prosecution Director," ACP Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop mentioned in a brief statement today.

On September 4, it was reported that the activist, also a consultant, had been remanded for two days to assist in the sedition probe. However, after his remand ended on Saturday, the individual was rearrested, highlighting the ongoing complexities of the case.

The land encroachment case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code, focusing on illegal entry into property. Meanwhile, the sedition case is being handled under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, along with Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, addressing the misuse of network facilities or services.
