Kuala Lumpur:Reports and views from academics regarding the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) are set to be submitted to the Cabinet, as announced by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi, who also serves as the MADANI Government spokesman, expressed the government's openness to the involvement of academics in evaluating and providing constructive feedback on the country's development plan. He emphasized the significance of the input, recommendations, and criticism from academics for consideration by the Ministry of Economy and other ministries.
Fahmi made these remarks after officiating the 13th Malaysia Plan Public Discourse Conference, organized by the Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) at Universiti Malaya. He requested INPUMA to prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet.
He further elaborated on the necessity for good governance and the absence of corruption in the execution of 13MP projects to ensure effective use of allocations for the public's benefit. Fahmi highlighted the importance of preventing abuse of power, funds, and any form of corruption or kleptocracy in the implementation of these projects.
Regarding the forthcoming Budget, Fahmi mentioned that the Ministry of Communications hopes the Ministry of Finance will focus on the development of the 'orange economy.' The aim is to promote the creative economy, encompassing film, animation, music, arts, and culture, through the newly established Orange Economy Council.
The conference was designed to gather insights from diverse stakeholders on the economic and social challenges facing the country, and to identify the issues needing attention in the implementation of the 13MP.
