Abd Halim Vows Stronger Enforcement, Transparency At MACC

Kuala lumpur: Newly appointed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman has pledged to prioritise efforts to restore public confidence in the commission by strengthening enforcement, enhancing transparency, and ensuring investigations are conducted professionally and fairly. In a statement today, Abd Halim said restoring public trust was not an option but an urgent necessity to ensure the MACC remains firm, transparent, and accountable, fully guided by the rule of law.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abd Halim emphasized the importance of reinforcing preventive measures, strengthening whistleblower protection, and enhancing strategic cooperation with all stakeholders to foster a culture of integrity in Malaysia. Abd Halim, who commenced his two-year contract today, highlighted that any form of corruption is unacceptable, viewing it as a betrayal to the people and a threat to the nation's future.

He urged Malaysians to collectively reject corruption, emphasizing it as a shared responsibility. Abd Halim expressed his gratitude to the government for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the MACC, vowing to draw on his judicial experience to uphold justice uncompromisingly.

Abd Halim also assured that under his leadership, the MACC would act decisively and impartially against any party found abusing power, irrespective of their rank, position, or influence. He aims to shape a more robust, credible, and fully independent MACC capable of performing its duties without fear or favour.
