AADK Calls On NGOs, Corporate Sector To Support Client Rehabilitation

Kuala lumpur: The corporate sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have been urged to collaborate with the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) to strengthen rehabilitation programmes for clients at the Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, AADK director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh emphasized that drug abuse is a global issue requiring community support beyond just the agency or the government. He highlighted the importance of external parties in providing guidance, motivation, and opportunities for clients to rebuild their lives post-rehabilitation, preventing relapse into drug abuse.

Ruslin noted that while PUSPEN has its own rehabilitation modules, the critical phase begins when clients leave the centre. He encouraged external parties, including corporate organisations and other agencies, to collaborate with AADK. He shared these insights after a meet-and-greet session and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme organised by the Skyhawk Motorcycle Club of Malaysia in collaboration with PUSPEN Kampung Selamat.

He pointed to the inaugural programme with the motorcycle club as a prime example of initiatives that offer PUSPEN clients the chance to engage with professionals from varied fields, such as doctors, lawyers, and corporate executives.

Meanwhile, Skyhawk Motorcycle Club of Malaysia founder Datuk Mohamad Efendi Omar remarked that the programme transcends a shared interest in motorcycling, offering club members the chance to contribute more significantly to society. He stressed the vital role of NGOs in establishing a supportive framework for former PUSPEN clients to rebuild their lives.

Efendi affirmed the ongoing collaboration with AADK, committing to developing strategies that extend beyond motivation. The focus will be on creating employment opportunities to ensure that clients can secure better jobs after leaving the rehabilitation centre.
