Olak lempit: Firefighters have put out 95 percent of the blaze involving four premises at the Olak Lempit Industrial Area here, and expect it to be fully extinguished later today. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that, so far, the firefighting operation is at the overhaul phase, with only small embers being fully extinguished.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that they are conducting thorough inspections to ensure there are no more victims or any other elements that may have been missed. The JBPM has activated the dog tracking unit (K9), along with the body recovery discipline, to conduct a sweep of a warehouse and a factory that were burnt to ensure there are no more victims trapped inside.
Regarding the three charred bodies found at the scene, he mentioned they were all discovered in the first warehouse that was razed, which is the Pentas Flora warehouse, during overhaul works. The blaze involved a warehouse and polymer factory, both of which were razed, before the intense heat caused damage to two other nearby premises.
Ahmad Mukhlis also noted that an investigation into the cause of the fire has begun, and the probe is expected to take up to 14 days to complete. Earlier reports indicated that the department was alerted about the incident at about 11:03 pm yesterday and immediately mobilized 69 personnel and officers.
