Putrajaya: A total of 325 foreigners were detained for various immigration offences during an enforcement operation by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) at an apartment in Putrajaya early this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation was conducted following public complaints and information regarding the large presence of foreigners at the location. The operation, involving 127 officers from JIM Putrajaya, in collaboration with the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia and the National Registration Department, was carried out following intelligence gathering and monitoring based on information received.

JIM reported that 740 individuals were screened during the operation. Out of the total screened, 325 were detained, comprising 270 men and 55 women aged between 18 and 56 from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Nepal, and Thailand. The offences identified included not possessing valid travel documents or passes, overstaying, violating pass conditions, and other offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and related regulations.

Those detained were taken to the Lenggeng Immigration Depot for investigation and further action. JIM stated that action would also be taken against any party found to have employed, harboured, or assisted foreigners who have committed immigration offences.

Employers and premise owners were reminded to ensure that every foreigner employed or placed has valid documents and passes and complies with the stipulated conditions. Members of the public are encouraged to be JIM's strategic partners by providing information through the department's official channels if they suspect the presence of illegal immigrants or any violation of immigration laws.
