Kuantan: A total of 3.14 million vehicles are expected to enter Pahang from March 27 to April 7 ahead of the Aidilfitri celebrations, said State Public Works, Transport and Health Committee chairman Datuk Razali Kassim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, 2.24 million vehicles are projected to travel from the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway, while 903,000 are anticipated to use the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1). Razali noted that traffic volume is expected to peak during this period, with the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway experiencing its highest traffic on Saturday, April 5, with approximately 216,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, LPT1 is expected to see its highest volume the following day with an estimated 119,000 vehicles.
Razali urged road users to plan their journeys as Hari Raya Aidilfitri is anticipated to fall on a Monday. He suggested that heading to hometowns earlier could help alleviate traffic congestion. He made these remarks after launching the 2025 Aidilfitri Safety and Ops Siaga Campaign.
Razali also emphasized the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of highway users by conducting regular maintenance and improvements. He cited recent repair works on a 400-metre damaged stretch in Package 5C1 of Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) in Bentong, which had gone viral. The Public Works Department has commenced repairs, expected to be completed by Wednesday.
Regarding infrastructure improvements, Razali mentioned the construction of four temporary rest areas at LTU, expected to be ready a few days before Aidilfitri.
