Kuala selangor: A total of 262 motorcyclists were inspected, with 155 summonses issued for various traffic offences in two operations, codenamed Op Samseng Jalanan and Op Bersepadu Ambang Merdeka in Kuala Selangor and Klang respectively yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Azaharudin Tajuddin said the operation, which began around 4 pm and focused on Pantai Remis, Jeram, was conducted following the detection of a gathering spot for motorcyclists to showcase stunts and modified exhausts.

The seven-hour operation resulted in the inspection of 140 vehicles, with 90 summonses issued for various traffic violations, in addition to the seizure of five motorcycles. "The detected offences included the absence of driving licence, insurance coverage, registration number and rearview mirror, not wearing a helmet, modifying the exhaust, and not displaying L or P stickers, in addition to other traffic violations," he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, Klang South district police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey reported that in an operation on Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Klang, a total of 122 motorcyclists were inspected and 65 traffic summonses were issued. He said in the operation which began at 12.01 am, his team also seized 21 motorcycles for further action.

Among the detected offences were driving without a licence, expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), registration number violations, exhaust modifications, as well as vehicle structure and accessory issues. "Additionally, two individuals were detained to assist in the investigation under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 related to the offence of driving or riding under the influence of alcohol," he also said. He added that the operation conducted until 6.30 am was an effort to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic throughout the National Day Eve celebrations.
