Rompin: Police yesterday detained 21 Orang Asli to assist investigations into alleged trespassing on land owned by the Sultan of Pahang in Kampung Jemeri, Kuala Rompin, Rompin. The Rompin Police chief, Supt Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi, reported that the individuals, comprising four men and 17 women aged between 26 and 60, were taken into custody following a report from a party appointed to develop the land.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a company representative lodged a police report alleging that a group of Orang Asli had trespassed on the 718.281-hectare plantation, damaged a metal barrier, and harvested oil palm fruit without permission. The case is currently being investigated under Section 447 and Section 427 of the Penal Code.
Sharif Shai emphasized the necessity for any party intending to develop land to possess a valid land title. He also issued a reminder to the public to adhere to the existing laws and regulations.
