Kuala Lumpur:The Education Ministry has announced that the 2027 academic calendar for national and government-aided schools will commence on January 4 and conclude on December 2 in Group A states, and on December 3 in Group B states.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Group A includes the states of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, while Group B consists of Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya.

The Ministry has also scheduled the festive holiday dates for the 2027 school session. These holidays cover major celebrations such as Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Hari Raya Korban, Kaamatan Festival, Gawai Dayak, Wesak Day, and Christmas.

All schools are required to adhere to the additional holiday provisions set by the Ministry for celebrations including Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Korban, Wesak Day, and Deepavali, with these additional holidays not needing to be made up later.

The Ministry further announced that January 3, 2028, will mark the beginning of the 2028 school session for both Group A and Group B states. This standardization aims to ensure a coordinated opening of the school session nationwide, aiding in school administration planning and enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning activities.
