Negeri sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) has issued 190 Notices of Violation (NPK) for littering in public areas and on roads across the state as of February 23. State Local Government, Housing and Transport Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar highlighted that two of these cases have been taken to court, resulting in the offenders being ordered to perform community service.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Arul Kumar emphasized that the enforcement efforts are not solely focused on issuing fines but are part of a broader strategy to enhance public cleanliness and minimize offences. The most frequent violations involve the disposal of plastic waste and cigarette butts in public areas, despite the implementation of awareness campaigns and warning signs.
To combat littering, additional rubbish bins will be installed in public spaces, and private business owners are encouraged to ensure proper waste disposal facilities are available on their premises. In another matter, Arul Kumar, who is also the Nilai assemblyman, warned traders against renting or selling business space to foreign nationals, including at Ramadan bazaars. Traders and organizers found in violation of this will face strict penalties, such as licence revocation and blacklisting. Last year, several foreign nationals were discovered at Ramadan bazaars, resulting in penalties for the involved parties.
