12th Malaysia Plan Development Spending Falls Below Ceiling

Kuala Lampur:Development expenditure under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) totaled RM397.85 billion as of December 31, 2025, remaining below the approved ceiling of RM415 billion, according to the Auditor-General's Report 2/2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the report on the Federal Government's 2025 Financial Statements indicated that 9,578 development projects were recorded by the end of 2025. This data was based on final account information from the MyProjek system, obtained from the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister's Department.

Of the 9,578 projects, 7,548 were under the 12MP, while the remaining 2,030 were continuation projects from previous Malaysia Plans. These included 1,602 projects from the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP), 358 from the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP), and 70 from the ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP).

Regarding the progress of the 12MP projects, 3,120 projects (32.6 percent) were at the post-implementation stage, 2,208 (23 percent) were at the pre-implementation stage, 4,057 (42.4 percent) were under implementation, while 193 (2.0 percent) were either kept in view or cancelled. Specifically, 115 projects were kept in view, and 78 projects were cancelled.

The report highlighted that the 3,120 post-implementation projects had been completed and put to use, in line with their development objectives. These completed projects included 1,750 social sector projects, 1,129 economic sector projects, 150 security sector projects, and 91 administrative sector projects.
