Langkawi: The Kedah Immigration Department (JIM) detained 104 foreigners in an OPS SAPU operation conducted at a construction site in Pantai Tengah, Langkawi, on Tuesday. The operation began at 3:15 pm and involved the efforts of 15 officers from the Immigration Action Unit.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department's statement revealed that the inspection covered 129 individuals, which included eight Malaysians, 100 Bangladeshis, two Myanmar nationals, and 19 Indonesians. Following the inspection, 104 male foreign immigrants were detained, comprising 91 Bangladeshis and 13 Indonesians, aged between 22 and 57 years.

The Kedah JIM disclosed that those detained are suspected of violating Section 6(1)(c), Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155), and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. Additionally, an IMM.29 Form (Summon to Witness) was issued during the inspection. The detained foreigners were transported to the Belantik Immigration Depot in Sik for further action and investigation.

The department emphasized that enforcement operations will continue without compromise to combat illegal foreign presence in the state. They also stated that strict measures will be taken against any employers or individuals found employing, protecting, or providing protection to foreigners who breach Immigration laws.
