Kuala lumpur: The Mines Resort and Golf Club: The newly-launched 100PLUS Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) National Junior Development Programme (NJDP) Junior Series 2026 is set to become a key launchpad for the country's rising young golfers. MGA president Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor announced that the series would serve as a qualifying platform for the Malaysian Junior International Open (MIJO) in November, with 30 slots available based on players' performances.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Anwar highlighted that this initiative is a significant step in enhancing junior golf development in Malaysia by providing young players with a more structured and competitive environment. "The 100PLUS MGA NJDP Junior Series will become one of the most important competitive platforms for junior golfers in the country," he remarked during the series launch at The Mines Resort and Golf Club.
Mohd Anwar also expressed appreciation for 100PLUS's ongoing support and collaboration with MGA in nurturing young talent and promoting a healthy sporting lifestyle. FandN Holdings Bhd director of Government and Industry Engagement Norazrin Norsyam Yee emphasized that the collaboration aligns with the shared vision of 100PLUS and MGA to develop junior golfers and produce future champions. Norazrin stated that 100PLUS recognizes the importance of junior development programs and encourages young golfers across the nation to participate in the new series.
MGA NJDP chairman Fauzi Mesran revealed that the organizers are aiming for 120 participants for the inaugural edition of the series. Open to players under the age of 18, the series will consist of three qualifying rounds and a Grand Final. The qualifying rounds will take place at Kinrara Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur from July 20-23, Permaipura Golf and Country Club in Sungai Petani, Kedah from August 10-13, and A'Famosa Golf Resort, Melaka from September 7-10. The Grand Final is scheduled at The Mines Resort and Golf Club from October 6-9.
