Kuala lumpur: A total of 1,000 micro-entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from the iTEKAD Programme as a result of the strategic collaboration between Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) and Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah Selangor), by December 2027. Bank Muamalat, in a statement today, announced that the collaboration was formalised yesterday through a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to strengthen the implementation of the programme and simultaneously expand support for micro-entrepreneurs, particularly in the B40 and asnaf groups in Selangor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hijrah Selangor will identify eligible entrepreneurs to participate in the programme, as well as provide micro-financing facilities, entrepreneurship training, business mentoring, financial literacy programmes, and digital marketing. Meanwhile, Bank Muamalat will disburse the iTEKAD grant as initial capital to help entrepreneurs acquire business equipment and supplies, while also supporting the development of entrepreneurs' capacities via training and monitoring.
"For 2026, Bank Muamalat and Hijrah Selangor are targeting 400 entrepreneurs to participate in the iTEKAD Programme, with an allocation of RM2 million. Overall, both parties are targeting 1,000 entrepreneurs to benefit from the iTEKAD Programme by December 2027, thereby expanding the programme's impact in producing more resilient and competitive entrepreneurs," said the statement.
From December 2025 to June 2026, 200 Hijrah Selangor entrepreneurs have been approved under the iTEKAD Programme with a total grant allocation of RM1 million. Bank Muamalat said participants are also offered an affordable takaful protection package through PruBSN Takaful to help protect them from unexpected financial risks.
Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Kamarudin, in the same statement, said that the collaboration reflects Bank Muamalat's ongoing commitment to empowering entrepreneurs through a holistic approach that not only provides access to financing but also knowledge, skills, and financial protection to build sustainable businesses.
"At Bank Muamalat, we believe that the success of entrepreneurs does not only depend on capital but also on guidance, knowledge and a comprehensive support ecosystem. Through collaboration with Hijrah Selangor, we hope that more entrepreneurs can enhance their competitiveness, expand their businesses, and subsequently contribute to the state's economic growth and the well-being of the community," he said.
In addition, both parties will also collaborate to implement a halal certification programme for eligible entrepreneurs to enhance their competence, professionalism and competitiveness, making them more prepared to expand their businesses to a higher level. The collaboration was signed in conjunction with the launch of Dana Plus, an initiative by the Selangor state government that serves as the main platform for the disbursement of micro-financing amounting to RM32 million, as announced in the Selangor Budget 2026 and the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 2.
