Zi Yu Aims for Dual Gold at 2026 Asian Junior Badminton Championships

Yatsushiro: National teenage badminton sensation Low Zi Yu has set her sights on a double gold medal haul at the 2026 Asian Junior Badminton Championships in Yatsushiro, Japan, from July 1 to 5. The 15-year-old is scheduled to compete in the girls' doubles event with Genevie Lim and the mixed doubles competition alongside Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal Ahmad at the Yatsushiro City General Gymnasium.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zi Yu expressed her ambitions, stating, "I definitely want to fight for gold and, if possible, win two gold medals," during an interview at the Badminton Academy of Malaysia at Bukit Kiara. Her confidence has been bolstered by her participation in top-level tournaments, including World Tour events and the 2026 Uber Cup, where she plays regularly with her partner Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan.

Zi Yu emphasized the importance of such high-level competitions in preparing her to face world-class players. Although Noraqilah Maisarah, 18, is ineligible for the junior championships due to the age limit, Zi Yu remains focused on her goal of securing gold in both her events in Japan.
