Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim declared a firm stance against corruption and abuse of power within the national defence sector, emphasizing that such actions compromise the country’s security and stability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of a transparent procurement system, asserting that all defence procurements must adhere to established procedures. He insisted that every acquisition, whether related to digital equipment, artificial intelligence (AI) technology, data centres, or weaponry, must be processed through a proper tender process. Anwar underscored the need to prioritize national requirements and cautioned against mismanagement, such as purchasing ships that remain unused, leading to significant financial losses.
Anwar further criticized the practice of accumulating national wealth for personal gain, questioning the ethics of tolerating large-scale theft while expecting modest contributions from those with lesser means. He stated that such practices must be eradicated to protect the integrity of the nation, especially in matters concerning national defence.
