Ontario: Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir has congratulated Malaysia's polytechnic and community college (POLYCC) contingent for winning 14 medals at the 31st FIRA RoboWorld Cup and Summit 2026 in Canada recently.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a Facebook post today, the national contingent had exceeded expectations by bringing home six gold, five silver, and three bronze medals. He said the achievement demonstrated that the talent, skills, and capabilities of Malaysians, particularly in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), were capable of competing and excelling on the international stage.

"This achievement is not merely a victory in a robotics competition, but also proof that the country's TVET ecosystem continues to produce highly skilled, innovative, and globally competitive human capital. Congratulations to everyone involved. Continue striving for excellence and raising Malaysia's profile on the world stage," he said.

At the tournament, held in Ontario from July 17 to 21, the POLYCC contingent, comprising representatives from Sultan Idris Shah Polytechnic, Port Dickson Polytechnic, and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic, competed in the HuroCup, FIRA Air, and Autonomous Car Challenge categories. The contingent also improved on its performance at the 2025 edition in South Korea, where it won five gold, three silver, and five bronze medals.
