Zakat Fitrah Rates in Perak Set at Three Tiers Based on Rice Consumption

Perak: The zakat fitrah rates in Perak for 1447H/2026M have been established at RM10, RM16, and RM25 per person, determined by the type of rice consumed. Perak Deputy Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim announced that the mandatory rate of RM10 applies to individuals who consume local super special rice and super imported rice.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the encouraged rate of RM16 is allocated for those consuming brown rice, fragrant rice, ponni rice, and parboiled rice, while an optional rate of RM25 is designated for consumers of basmati rice, glutinous rice, Japanese rice, and red rice. The announcement was made in the presence of Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) CEO Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh and Perak Zakat Al Ridzuan (ZAPAR) GM Ahmad Nazim Md Tajuri.

Last year, the zakat fitrah rates in Perak were RM10, RM16, and RM27, reflecting variations in rice consumption. Ahmad Nazim stated that MAIPk, via ZAPAR, has appointed 1,735 Assistant Amil Fitrah, or official tithe collectors, to aid in the collection of zakat fitrah this year, down from approximately 1,900 the previous year. The public is urged to fulfill their zakat fitrah obligation only through certified collectors appointed by ZAPAR.

To streamline payment transactions, ZAPAR offers an online zakat fitrah payment channel via the MAIPk Bestari application and portal, accessible at https://bestari.maipk.gov.my or ezakat.maipk.gov.my. Payments can also be made through Internet banking and e-wallets such as Grab and Shopee. Ahmad Nazim noted that last year marked the first implementation of the application, and enhancements are underway to improve access via mobile phones and the website. Data from the previous year indicated that about half of the RM15.2 million in zakat fitrah collected was paid online.
