Kuala lumpur: YTL Communications has become the first telco in Malaysia to commercially launch 5G Advanced through its service brand, Yes. The rollout, already deployed in the Klang Valley and set for nationwide completion by December 2025, delivers deeper 5G coverage, faster performance, and artificial intelligence (AI)-ready connectivity to benefit consumers and businesses alike.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, YTL Communications chief executive officer Wing K. Lee emphasized that this launch is more than a network upgrade; it is a significant development. ‘With 5G Advanced, Malaysians can enjoy broader and deeper 5G coverage nationwide, and a high-performance wireless network unlike anything the country has experienced before,’ he stated in a recent announcement.
Wing highlighted that by leveraging advanced spectrum integration of 700 megahertz (MHz) and 3500MHz, Yes 5G Advanced offers stronger indoor penetration and broader outdoor coverage. This ensures that users remain consistently connected to 5G for both data and voice (via Voice over New Radio), while delivering optimal 5G performance.
The statement also notes that 5G Advanced includes a ‘VIP lane’ feature, which ensures consistent connectivity across the Yes 5G network. With high throughput for downloads and uploads, ultra-low latency, and intelligent traffic management, Yes 5G Advanced promises top-tier performance across activities such as streaming, gaming, and mission-critical industrial applications, as stated by the mobile operator.
