Kuala Lampur:YTL AI Labs Sdn Bhd, the artificial intelligence division of YTL Power International Bhd under the YTL Group, announced the launch of Nemotron-Personas-Malaysia, an open dataset developed with NVIDIA to represent Malaysia's diverse population through 1.35 million synthetic personas.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the dataset was created from 150,000 base records using distributions based on official Malaysian demographic statistics. It is available for free commercial use under a permissive license, offering developers, researchers, and enterprises a tool to build AI systems that reflect Malaysia's languages, cultures, regional differences, and working life. The dataset is the first in NVIDIA's Nemotron-Personas collection to prioritize Bahasa Melayu.

The personas are statistically realistic profiles representing Malaysia's actual demographics region by region, with no personal data included to ensure individuals are not identifiable. The dataset is part of NVIDIA's expanding Nemotron-Personas collection, which includes datasets for countries such as the United States, Japan, and India.

YTL AI Labs highlighted that the dataset's methodology captures Malaysia's ethnic and regional diversity down to the district level, representing major ethnic groups like Malays, Chinese, and Indians, alongside groups such as Kadazan-Dusun, Bajau, and others. The dataset expands the 150,000 base records into 1.35 million detailed personas across 39 fields, covering demographic characteristics and personality traits based on the five-factor OCEAN model.

The dataset aims to capture not only demographic characteristics but also personality and behavioral differences.
