Young Leaders Set to Contest in Upcoming Melaka State Election

Melaka:Several young leaders are expected to be fielded as candidates in the upcoming Melaka state election next month, according to Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, the PKR Youth (AMK) chief.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Kamil, who also serves as the political secretary to the Finance Minister, mentioned that the AMK had submitted several names to the party's top leadership for consideration. He expressed confidence that these young leaders from Melaka would be significant contenders in the election.

Though the exact percentage of young candidates has not been confirmed, Muhammad Kamil assured that those chosen possess distinct strengths and capabilities. He emphasized that candidates are selected not only for their youth but also for their capability and potential to win, with grassroots preparations actively underway.

Muhammad Kamil also highlighted the importance of Pakatan Harapan (PH) relying on its own strength rather than depending on other coalitions. The state election process is set with nomination on October 31, early voting on November 10, and polling scheduled for November 14, following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly on September 23.

In the 2021 Melaka state election, Barisan Nasional (BN) won 21 out of 28 seats, while PH secured five seats and Perikatan Nasional (PN) won two.
