Kuala lumpur: Yinson Holdings Bhd is actively seeking further business opportunities across the African continent, following a successful track record of operations in the region spanning over thirty years, as stated by its chief executive officer, Lim Chern Yuan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yinson’s African ventures are primarily driven by its offshore production division, Yinson Production. The company recently achieved a significant milestone by delivering a contract with Azule Energy for a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit, designated for the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project in Angola. Lim shared insights during an interview while accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his business delegation tour of three African countries.
In Ghana, Yinson is responsible for operating the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor, contributing substantially to the nation’s gas supply. Lim highlighted that their gas FPSO accounts for 60 percent of Ghana’s gas supply. In Nigeria, Yinson operates the FPSO Abigail-Joseph, further solidifying its presence in the region.
Lim emphasized the significance of such international business trips, stating that they are instrumental in expanding the company’s network, reinforcing its base, and enhancing Yinson’s reputation as a Malaysian entity within Africa. The company is also exploring potential collaborations for energy infrastructure projects in South Africa.
With a deep familiarity with the region, Lim expressed Yinson’s commitment to continue investing in Africa as suitable projects emerge, recognizing the continent’s considerable potential for growth and development in the energy sector.
