Taman Merbau: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) has disbursed RM31,985 in compensation to the next-of-kin of a student under its Variable Education Financing (PPBU) sponsorship programme in Taman Merbau, Selising, Pasir Puteh today. YBR chief executive officer Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani said the compensation was handed over to the next-of-kin of Nazuratul Auni Ibrahim, a Bachelor’s Degree student at Universiti Malaya who died on Aug 24, 2024.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nazuratul Auni was taken to the Al-Sultan Abdullah Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Hospital and warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for severe pneumonia before being confirmed dead due to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

“The compensation given today is the result of takaful deductions for all PPBU recipients, where the takaful provider will repay the amount of financing incurred if there are any problems such as health, accidents or death,” said Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani. He added that the protection compensation of RM31,985 is intended to assist her next-of-kins in continuing their lives, as the deceased also left behind a young child.

Meanwhile, Nazuratul Auni’s mother, Noor Azizah Abdul Talib, expressed her gratitude to YBR, stating that she did not expect to receive the compensation, which would alleviate her family’s financial burden, including caring for her late daughter’s young child.
