YAPEIM Allocates RM1.4 Million To Assist Flood Victims

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YAPEIM) has allocated about RM1.4 million to assist flood victims in several affected states. YAPEIM Board of Trustees chairman Abdul Khudus Mohd Naaim announced that the aid is expected to benefit some 1,500 families in Perlis, Perak, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor, and will be carried out in two phases.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the first phase involves distributing essential items such as dry food, mineral water, hygiene kits, blankets, towels, basic clothing, baby care sets, and other critical supplies based on immediate needs. The second phase focuses on post-flood recovery, including cleaning homes and premises, repairing damaged property, providing basic electrical appliances to replace those destroyed, supplying clean water, post-flood logistics support, and other rehabilitation assistance to help affected families rebuild their lives.

Abdul Khudus stated that about 1,400 YAPEIM staff and personnel from its subsidiaries will be mobilised as volunteers to flood-hit areas during the second phase. He emphasized the importance of this post-flood initiative not only to ensure victims’ safety during the disaster but also to help them recover and move forward.

The programme is implemented in collaboration with the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council, Permodalan Nasional Bhd, and Lembaga Tabung Haji, reflecting a united effort to support flood victims nationwide. Abdul Khudus highlighted that this programme demonstrates how the collective strength of ummah institutions can deliver far greater impact, embodying the spirit of infak, compassion, and solidarity, in line with religious obligations to ease the burden of those facing hardship.

From 1985 until October 2025, YAPEIM has disbursed RM723.3 million to 10.1 million beneficiaries nationwide under its three key pillars: economic, educational, and community development.
