KUALA LANGAT: The remand of three suspects connected to the murder case of 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan has been extended for an additional five days. The extension comes as investigations continue into the discovery of her body at RTB Sungai Changgang on December 28.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kajang District Police Chief, ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof, stated that the investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder. The decomposed body of Yap was confirmed through DNA testing by the Malaysian Chemistry Department.
The three suspects, aged 16, 20, and 51, were apprehended on Monday. Notably, among those detained is the boyfriend of the deceased teenager. The police are examining potential motives related to personal disputes and drug overdose.
Yap Xin Yuan was reported missing by her family on December 19, following a lion dance training session at a basketball court in Batu 11, Cheras. The investigation remains active as authorities seek to piece together the circumstances leading to her tragic death.
