Kuala Lumpur:Defending champion Miyu Yamashita of Japan is embracing the challenge of defending her title at the LPGA Maybank Championship, set to begin this week at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC). She remains undaunted by the pressure of the competition.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yamashita, currently ranked fourth in the world, has had an exceptional season with several victories. She expressed her enthusiasm about returning to the tournament, having won the title the previous year.
The 25-year-old golfer is eager to deliver another strong performance for Malaysian golf fans. "I don't really feel much pressure, and I've been really looking forward to playing here as the defending champion. So, I hope a lot of fans come out to watch us play in the tournament," she stated during a press conference.
Yamashita emphasized the importance of consistency on the challenging KLGCC course. She noted that maintaining consistency with her shots would be critical to replicating her winning performance from last year. "I think consistency with my shots is really important because there are a lot of tricky holes out there. So, I'll focus on hitting good second shots," she added.
