Kuala lumpur: Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) has strongly condemned the vandalism and burning of a mosque in Golbazar, Siraha, Nepal, following recent inter-communal tensions. YADIM president Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom stated that the incident, which also destroyed copies of the Quran and hadith materials, contradicted the values of humanity, peace, and harmony.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hasan emphasized that actions such as burning the Quran, vandalizing mosques, and desecrating houses of worship are inappropriate in a civilized society. He highlighted that these acts do not align with the fundamental values of humanity, peace, and harmony. Hasan further stated that freedom of religion should not serve as an excuse to insult or destroy the religion or houses of worship of any group.

He advocated for resolving differences and tensions between communities through dialogue and legal channels, rather than resorting to provocation, violence, or retaliatory actions in the name of religion. YADIM called upon the Nepalese authorities to conduct a comprehensive, transparent, and fair investigation and to take appropriate action against those involved.

Meanwhile, Hasan reminded the public not to mock or celebrate the suffering of flood victims in Nepal. He urged that values of compassion, empathy, and humanity should be expressed through prayers and assistance for those in need, regardless of their religion or background.

He stated that this stance aligns with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI and MADANI Membantu under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan. This approach upholds the values of empathy, humanity, and compassion in societal life and international relations.

Hasan expressed YADIM's prayers for peace to be restored in Nepal and for all victims and affected communities to be granted protection, strength, and assistance.
