Yadim: The collaboration between Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) and 27 public and private institutions of higher learning marks the largest initiative aimed at strengthening the national dakwah agenda. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan announced the collaboration, highlighting the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with these institutions. The partnership covers areas such as module development, publications, writing, and engaging academic expertise to support dakwah efforts in a structured and impactful manner.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the need for greater input and guidance from higher learning institutions due to increasingly complex challenges in the current environment. This collaboration aims to ensure initiatives are implemented comprehensively, systematically, and with tangible societal impact. He noted the importance of leveraging university expertise to take effective steps, ensuring the dakwah agenda is knowledge-based and aligned with contemporary needs.
Dr. Zulkifli made these remarks during the MoU signing ceremony at the Wilayah Mosque, with Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir also in attendance. He mentioned that while cooperation between YADIM and universities has existed, the current initiative adopts a more comprehensive approach, emphasizing the optimal use of academic expertise.
The MoUs, effective for three to five years, aim to strengthen the dakwah agenda in line with Malaysia MADANI's vision, which emphasizes values of morality, knowledge, and community well-being. Participating public universities include Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), with private institutions such as Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) and Multimedia University (MMU) also involved.
