Berlin: The Malaysian men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team broke the national record at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games in Berlin early this morning, Malaysian time.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the quartet of Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal, Lim Yin Chuen, and Tan Khai Xin recorded a time of 7 minutes 19.66 seconds, finishing sixth in the final held at the Schwimm- und Sprunghalle im Europasportpark. This performance surpassed the previous national record of 7:19.75 seconds set by Welson Sim, Yin Chuen, Arvin, and Hoe Yean at the 2022 Hanoi SEA Games.
The United States secured the gold medal with a new record of 7:04.51 seconds, while Individual Neutral Athletes took silver with a time of 7:08.33 seconds, and Japan claimed bronze with 7:09.47 seconds.
Swimming remains Malaysia’s only medal contributor at the Games so far, with Hoe Yean earning a bronze in the men’s 400m freestyle.
