World’s First Low Carbon Ratings System for Cement and Concrete Unveiled

London: The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has announced the launch of the Low Carbon Ratings (LCR) for Cement and Concrete, marking a significant step forward in the construction industry. This innovative and transparent global rating system will enable stakeholders to identify cement and concrete products based on their carbon footprints, using an intuitive AA to G scale.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the LCR system is inspired by established appraisal schemes like the EU’s Energy Performance Certificates and the US Home Energy Rating System. This new tool aims to guide builders, architects, governments, planners, and consumers in making more informed and sustainable choices regarding construction materials. The system’s simple and adaptable design emphasizes the growing need for sustainability in the construction sector worldwide.
