World Firefighters Day Celebration Set to Commence in Kuantan

Kuantan: The national-level 2025 World Firefighters Day celebration is set to take place at the Kuantan City Council (MBK) 1 field, Jalan Mahkota, tomorrow. The event will be graced by the presence of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming are also expected to attend the celebration, which is scheduled to commence at 8 am. The event’s theme is “Bomba Tonggak Penyelamatan Negara,” and it promises a variety of activities for attendees.

Senior Superintendent II Nur Hafizah Mohammad Lukman, the deputy chief of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 1 (Selangor), has invited the public to join the celebration. Key highlights include a Mi-17 helicopter show, parachute jumps by smoke jumpers, and a parade by the red heroes’ contingents. The event will also feature exhibitions, including one on drones by the JBPM Air Division and another on snakes by the Training Division.

Additionally, a smoke house demonstration is planned to educate the public on how to safely evacuate in the event of a fire at home. The Lion Club will also host an exhibition and provide free eye health screenings. The celebration will be broadcast live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) 1 during the Selamat Pagi Malaysia program.

Several roads will be closed in conjunction with the event from 6 am to 1 pm, including the entire stretch of Jalan Mahkota, Jalan Besar from Hotel Lovita to Jalan Penjara, Jalan Bukit Ubi leading to Jalan Mahkota, and Jalan Penjara leading to Jalan Mahkota.

The World Firefighters Day celebration will continue with the ‘Larian Bersama Bomba 2025’ program at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam, Selangor, on May 17.
