Kuala lumpur: Women who are experiencing emotional distress or facing marital problems are advised to seek help and support through proper channels. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri emphasized the importance of utilizing the ministry’s platforms for assistance, including the Talian Kasih 15999 helpline. This service provides a space for individuals to express their feelings and be directed to suitable support and intervention.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy highlighted the need for women to reach out for advice and guidance on appropriate avenues for help. She noted that some individuals may not be aware of the correct channels and could end up seeking help in unhelpful places. The helpline 15999 offers an opportunity for those facing depression or other issues to share their feelings and receive guidance, which is a crucial step in finding the right support.
Nancy’s remarks came in response to a recent controversy involving a marriage motivation programme led by a husband-and-wife team, which was allegedly promoting inappropriate content and questionable teachings. She further urged women dealing with issues such as domestic violence to seek assistance through the One-Stop Social Support Centre (PSSS). This center, under her ministry, offers professional counseling and guidance.
The PSSS, an initiative by the ministry through the National Welfare Foundation (YKN), aims to provide immediate assistance to those in need, particularly in addressing psychosocial issues within the community. The focus is on offering comprehensive support to ensure the well-being of individuals facing challenging circumstances.
