Kuala lumpur: Effective leadership in the civil service not only depends on efficiency and knowledge, but also human values such as integrity, empathy, and team spirit that are often shown by women civil servants while performing daily tasks.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that her ministry is committed to empowering women leadership not only at the workplace but also in society. This commitment is demonstrated through various development programmes, including the Perantis, Gig@BIT, and Kirana programmes under the Women’s Development Department, which aim to harness the great potential of women.
Nancy highlighted that the Perantis programme serves as a leadership guidance platform designed to nurture women in the fields of economics, politics, and technology. During her speech at the close of the MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak Amazing Race 2025, she emphasized that participants had the opportunity to learn from women leaders, building confidence to lead and positively impact their communities and organizations.
She urged women civil servants, particularly those in Sarawak, to seize the opportunity to join the Perantis programme to enhance their leadership skills. Nancy noted that the pioneer project, initiated last year with an allocation of RM5 million, had only one participant from Sarawak. She expressed hope that this year, four more participants from the state would join, allowing more Sarawak women to benefit.
Nancy expressed optimism that the programme would provide women civil servants with the opportunity to develop not only for personal growth but also to contribute to a more effective, inclusive, and caring civil service.
