Wee Cautions MCA Against Complacency Ahead Of GE16

Ipoh: MCA leaders and members have been cautioned against becoming complacent or overly excited by the party's early gains, with its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong stressing the need to maintain momentum ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong emphasized that party leaders at all levels need to demonstrate strong commitment by providing excellent service to the people as preparation for GE16 continues. He highlighted that the strength of a political party directly provides added value and an advantage in political manoeuvring and future coalition negotiations.

These remarks were made during a press conference after attending the closing ceremony of the MCA Election Training Workshop at MH Hotel. The workshop, which aimed to prepare the party for upcoming electoral challenges, was attended by more than 200 division-level leaders. It was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar and State Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Addressing preparations for the Melaka state election, Wee mentioned that specific discussions on seat allocation among BN component parties would only be finalized after the dissolution of the state legislative assembly. The current assembly's term is set to end in December, suggesting that strategic decisions will be made closer to that time.
