Sungai udang: The water reticulation system upgrading project at three Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) areas in Sungai Udang, with a budget of RM13.5 million, is set to be completed soon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari announced that the project is 99 percent complete and is already operational, ensuring a sufficient and safe water supply for RKAT Desa Tun Razak, Desa Ria Tangga Batu, and Desa Taming Sari One and Two. The upgrade, which has been underway for about two years, aims to resolve water supply issues affecting approximately 1,800 homes in these areas.
Adly noted that only one percent of the project remains, involving compliance with local authority requirements. However, the system is currently functional. In the event of a water supply disruption, the upgraded system is expected to support residents' needs for up to two and a half days, a significant improvement from the previous system's one-day capacity.
Furthermore, Adly highlighted that the Defence Ministry is planning to replace the water supply system at Terendak Camp, with an estimated cost of RM45 million. This initiative is expected to commence within a year, following the completion of necessary processes such as appointing consultants to assess the bill of quantities and project plans. The current system at Terendak Camp is outdated and in need of an upgrade to improve water supply reliability.
