Kuala lumpur: The Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (YWM), in collaboration with TV AlHijrah, has unveiled the Wakaf Media Fund, a strategic three-phase initiative designed to bolster Islamic media content and dakwah activities across Malaysia. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, highlighted the fund's objectives during the launch event today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli explained that the first phase of the initiative will prioritize financing educational programs such as Al-Quran 104 and Hadis Sunnah 104. These programs aim to enhance the public's comprehension of Islamic teachings. The subsequent phase will focus on upgrading facilities and technical support, whereas the third phase will concentrate on developing media-related assets to ensure the initiative's long-term sustainability.
Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the collaborative effort among agencies to coordinate and shape the religious affairs agenda, particularly in promoting dakwah efforts. The Wakaf Media Fund is also expected to provide an alternative funding source for Islamic media organizations, reducing their dependence on traditional funding methods through public contributions.
He mentioned that salary-deduction waqf contributions have already commenced among officers in his ministry, although the initiative has yet to receive widespread promotion. The program seeks to involve public servants and the general public, with contributions from government-linked companies and the private sector also being encouraged.
Dr. Zulkifli assured the public that their waqf contributions would be managed transparently and yield tangible benefits. He expressed optimism that the initiative would foster a culture of giving, reinforce Malaysia's standing as a leader in modern waqf practices, and contribute to both economic growth and spiritual development.
