Vocational College Standards Reviewed Regularly Says Deputy Education Minister

Kuala lumpur: The standards for vocational colleges are reviewed every two to three years to ensure that the technical and vocational education and training curricula remain relevant and meet industry standards, said Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh. He emphasized that this periodic review is essential to ensure that the curriculum keeps pace with technological advancements and adheres to standards set by accreditation bodies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wong highlighted that starting this year, two core artificial intelligence-based courses are being offered under the Computer Vision Computing Technology and the Computer Vision Information Technology programmes. Additionally, a Generative Artificial Intelligence elective course is now available to all diploma programmes at vocational colleges. These offerings are part of the ministry’s efforts to strengthen TVET in secondary schools and vocational colleges to align with current industry needs, particularly in the fields of green and digital technology.

Wong was addressing a question from Zakri Hassan (PN-Kangar) regarding the ministry’s initiatives to enhance TVET in secondary education and vocational colleges during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat. The focus is on aligning educational offerings with the evolving demands of the industry, thereby ensuring that graduates are well-equipped for the workforce.
