Kuala lumpur: The Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM 2026) Vaisakhi Fest highlights Malaysia's multicultural identity as a key driver of unity and tourism growth, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Chiew Choon Man stated.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chiew emphasized that Malaysia's multicultural identity is a defining strength, showcased through celebrations like the Vaisakhi Fest, which unites diverse communities in harmony and cultural appreciation. The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in collaboration with the Malaysia Tourism Promotional Board (Tourism Malaysia), supported the VM2026 Vaisakhi Fest held at Lanai Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC) in Kuala Lumpur, last Saturday.
The event's significance was underscored by the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, marking it as a signature event under VM2026. Chiew highlighted that Vaisakhi carries a message of unity, aligning with the Malaysia MADANI values of togetherness, respect, and shared national identity among Malaysia's diverse communities.
He noted that cultural celebrations like Vaisakhi boost Malaysia's tourism by showcasing its multicultural heritage to international visitors. Tourists from China, India, and Europe were drawn to Malaysia to experience its festive cultural diversity. Chiew stated that Malaysia's multiculturalism and diversity are national assets and strengths, particularly evident in tourism, arts, and culture.
Malaysia's multicultural identity is reflected in how harmony is experienced through food, music, dance, traditions, and public celebrations, making the country unique and attractive to visitors globally. Chiew reiterated that, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration to strengthen unity and diversity through tourism, arts, and culture, MOTAC and Tourism Malaysia will continue to support and promote meaningful cultural events.
Chiew affirmed the commitment to preserving and celebrating Malaysia's multicultural diversity. During the VM 2026 Vaisakhi Fest, Prime Minister Anwar expressed that Malaysia's diversity is the nation's core strength, forming the foundation of national unity through its cultures, traditions, and communities.
